For those of you who know me and what I do, you know that depending on the month, I have 400-1000 articles submitted to ezinearticles, and so you know that my articles convert, or I wouldn’t keep paying my article writers to write the articles.

Of course, when I first started I had to write the articles for myself - I couldn’t shell out $4000+ per month for writing articles since I didn’t even know if it would work. But now I do…and now I am willing to share with you the personal formula that I used to write my articles when I first got started writing these articles:

My formula is one hundred twenty words as the introduction, that normally takes me about three sentences. My first sentence I will introduce whatever my topic is, the second sentence I’ll introduce the problem I’m getting ready to solve in the article, and the third sentence I’ll kind of sum up how I’m going to solve it.

Then what I do is I have seven bullet points. Seven bullet points, I find that I can write two sentences each. I need forty words per bullet point for two hundred and ten words. This actually gets you about four hundred words right there. So if you have forty words per bullet point or somewhere close, you’ll end up four hundred words for the total article, and forty words is about 2 sentences. Literally constrain yourself to writing two sentences on each bullet point. Obviously, if it’s a fiest precess, and you can’t change that , it five steps means forty words means three sentences so three sentences on each thing that you’re trying to get across. Just kind of restrain yourself to those three. I think that will help you a lot.

What’ll work, too, is you can use the seven ways in your headline every time.

Also, you can use seven ways, five ways. You’ve read my articles. You see how I’ve got that stuff set up. I won’t say it’s scientific but I will say it works. The only reason I buy 800 articles a month and I wouldn’t do that if they weren’t converting. My articles consistently make me money. I mean the articles themselves don’t make money but they’re the traffic that makes me money. So, 800 articles a month and they convert.

One of the questions I received today from one of my subscribers is this: How do I write relevant articles fast? After I wrote the response I began to think, I wonder how many of you could use this information - so here is the response I gave to my subscriber on how to write relevant articles fast:

To write relevant articles fast, one of the real keys is getting complete control (knowledge) of the content itself so that you can write from knowledge, not research. This may be difficult at first, because you may not know your niche inside and out, but with a little research, and practice writing these articles, it will become easy over time. That is one thing I cannot stress enough - article writing gets easier over time, so I highly recommend practice - and that means writing lots of articles!

Once you have the knowledge in your head instead of in your research materials. you are only constrained by the speed at which you can type. For example, I type about 50 WPM, and it takes me almost exactly 8 minutes to write a 400 word article, because I am working with knowledge, not research.

Then to make the article flow easily, write a 100 word introduction - the introduction will tell the reader the problem you are going to solve in the article, why solving this problem is important, then tell them how it is you are going to solve it.

In the next 300 words, write 5 points of 60 words each, each point telling them one step to solving their problem. Obviously you can expand or contract the number of points, and then change the number of words to make the total 400. Once you have written 50- 100 articles, you will be able to follow this formula without much thought - you will be able to naturally write using this formula.

There are basically two types of bloggers in the world - reporters and experts - and some people perform both roles (usually the experts, it’s hard for reporters to become experts, but it’s easy for experts to report).

If you have ever taken an Internet marketing course or attended a seminar specifically for beginners, you have probably heard about the two different methodologies. Whenever the business model is based on content, and if you blog for money then the model is based on content, people are taught to either start as reporters, or if possible step up as experts.

I’ll be frank; you want to be the expert.

Reporters leverage the content of the experts and in most cases people start off as reporters because they haven’t established expertise. Experts enjoy the perks of preeminence, higher conversion rates because of perceived value, it’s easier to get publicity, people are more likely to seek you out rather than you having to seek others out, joint ventures come easier, etc… experts in most cases simply make more money and attract more attention.

Most Bloggers Are Reporters

The thing with expertise is that it requires something - experience. No person becomes an expert without doing things and learning. Bloggers usually start out without expertise and as a result begin their blogging journey by talking about everything going on in their niche (reporting) and by interviewing and talking about other experts (reporting again).

There’s nothing wrong with reporting of course and for many people it’s a necessity at first until you build up some expertise. Unfortunately the ratios are pretty skewed when it comes to reporters and experts - there are a lot more reporters than there are experts, hence reporters tend to struggle to gain attention and when they do, they often just enhance the reputation of the expert they are reporting on.

Don’t Replicate Your Teacher

If you have ever spent some time browsing products in the learn Internet marketing niche you will notice a pattern. Many people first study Internet marketing from a “guru” (for lack of a better term). The guru teaches how he or she is able to make money online, and very often the view that the student gleams is that in order to make money online you have to teach others how to make money online.

The end result of this process is a huge army of amateurs attempting to replicate what their teacher does in the same industry - the Internet marketing industry - not realizing that without expert status based on a proven record and all the perks that come with it, it’s next to impossible to succeed.

Even people, who enjoy marginal success, say for example growing an email list of 1,000 people, then go out and launch a product about how to grow an email list of 1,000 people. Now I have no problems with that, I think it’s fine to teach beginners and leverage whatever achievements you have, the problem is that people gravitate to the same niche - Internet marketing - and rarely have any key points of differentiation.

How many products out there do you know of that all claim to teach the same things - email marketing, SEO, pay per click, affiliate marketing, and all the sub-niches that fall under the category of Internet marketing. It’s a saturated market, yet when you see your teachers and other gurus making money teaching others how to make money (and let’s face it - making money as a subject is one of the most compelling) - your natural inclination is to follow in their footsteps.

If the key is to become an expert and you haven’t spent the last 5-10 years making money online, I suggest you look for another niche to establish expertise in.

Report on Your Process, Not Others

The secret to progress from reporter to expert is not to focus on other experts and instead report on your own journey. When you are learning how to do something and implementing things day by day, or studying other people’s work, you need to take your process and what you do as a result of what you learn, and use it as content for your blog.

It’s okay to talk about experts when you learn something from them, but always relate it to what you are doing. If you learn a technique from an expert it’s fine to state you learned it from them (and affiliate link to their product too!) but you should then take that technique, apply it to what you are doing and then report back YOUR results, not there’s. Frame things using your opinion - your stories - and don’t regurgitate what the expert said. The key is differentiation and personality, not replication.

Expertise comes from doing things most people don’t do and then talking about it. If you do this often enough you wake up one day as an expert, possibly without even realizing how it happened, simply because you were so good at reporting what you did.

You Are Already An Expert

Most people fail to become experts (or perceived as experts) because they don’t leverage what they already know. Every person who lives a life learns things as they go, takes action every day and knows something about something. The reason why they never become an expert is because they choose not to (which is fine for some, not everyone wants to be an expert), but if your goal is to blog your way to expertise and leave the world of reporting behind you have to start teaching and doing so by leveraging real experience.

Experience can come from what you do today and what you have done previously; you just need to take enough steps to demonstrate what you already know and what you are presently learning along your journey. I know so many people in my life, who are experts simply by virtue of the life they have lived, yet they are so insecure about what they know, they never commit their knowledge to words for fear of…well fear.

Blogs and the Web in general, are amazing resources when you leverage them as a communication tool to spread your expertise because of the sheer scope of people they can reach. If all you ever do is talk to people in person and share your experience using limited communication mediums, you haven’t much hope of becoming an expert. Take what you know and show other people through blogging, and you might be surprised how people change their perception of you in time.

Reporting Is A Stepping Stone

If your previous experience and expertise is from an area you want to leave behind or you are starting from “scratch”, then reporting is the path you must walk, at least for the short term.

Reporting is a lot of fun. Interviewing experts, talking about what other people are doing and just being part of a community is not a bad way to blog. In many cases people make a career of reporting (journalism is about just that), but if you truly want success and exponential results, at some point you will have to stand up and proclaim yourself as someone unusually good at something and then proceed to demonstrate it over and over again.

Have patience and focus on what you do to learn and then translate that experience into lessons for others, and remember, it’s okay to be a big fish in a small pond, that’s all most experts really are.

In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else’’s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that’’s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers. Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers.

These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called “traction”, which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major “pillar” articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good “how-to” lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn”t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don”t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that’’s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you”ve done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people’’s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger’’s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it’’s sort of like your blog telling someone else’’s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important - it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.

To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it’’s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it’’s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn”t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it’’s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have - your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your “Resource Box”. You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I”ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won”t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

By the time I’m writing this, Wordpress For Affiliate Sites has just opened its doors and closed them again. Only Andy Williams knows when they will open again.

Knowing that everything Andy Williams has done in the past has been excellent, I was lucky enough to get in on his new Wordpress For Affiliate Sites membership site when it first opened its doors.

The Wordpress For Affiliate Sites is a combination of a Wordpress tutorial and an affiliate tutorial and I wanted in for both reasons. I want to learn more about building sites using Wordpress as the site builder of choice and I also want to see Andy when he builds an affiliate site.

In the past I have built several sites using his SEO WSB and I’ve been a huge fan of it. In fact, I’m still using it for many of my sites. But now when some of the SEO benefits with SEO WSB seem to be gone in combination with more and more people using Wordpress as their site builder, I’m kind of curious learning how to take full benefit of Wordpress.

I’ve understood that Wordpress is a fantastic site builder, but I’ve never really taken the time to learn how to use it to its full potential ob my sites. I’m counting on this course to greatly help me reduce my Wordpress learning time.

Dr Andy’s membership program has (today) two parts, the course modules and a forum. I’m looking very much forward to use both of them. By the time of this writing the forum is looking promising with more and more good posts and it also has the first course module.

When it comes to the course modules, you will not be given all the course modules at once, but rather in a step by step manner over time. I think this is a good thing by Dr Andy, because actually you would like to have access to all course modules at once. Instead you get the modules one by one, so that you can’t cheat in your site building process. You are forced to focus and to build your site the right way.

In the first course module you are taught how to search a niche for profitability, choose domain name and hosting. All this comes with an action plan that you can check off when you have done each step.

The first module feels kind of simple if you have studied Dr Andy for a period of time in the past, but it’s very good quality. It’s also the first step you have to take when building a website on any topic.

Even though it’s too early to write a full review of the Wordpress For Affiliate Sites membership program, I’m very impressed by what I’ve seen so far. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next module in this course and I have no doubt that when I’m done with all modules I will have the ability to build very successful websites.

You will hear more about my findings later on…

Evaluating site performance is essential to improve the level of customer satisfaction. Very often customers move away to another site if they find that your site takes hours to download. You can’t blame them because the onus of hosting a good website rests solely on you.

The slow downloads can be on account of the web server’s low processing speed, low bandwidth connection, website’s poor database structure or overloading of web pages with images and graphics. They can be on account of any one of these factors or all the factors. It is for you to find out why your site is slow and fix the problem.

Research has shown that slow website performance can cause huge losses in retail sales. Fortunately, several performance monitoring tools are now available, both offline and online. You can use these tools to evaluate your website’s performance.

You can subscribe to a remote monitoring service and get a comprehensive analysis done. This analysis will look into content mix, web server speed, bandwidth availability, server downtime, page performance, etc. It will help you to identify the key problems and help you fix them, before your customers start complaining. Most performance monitoring services will notify you immediately about a problem by phone, e-mail, pager, or any other means available.

They will also provide you with real-time and historical reports about site performance and site availability. A big advantage is that they can be set up instantly and produce immediate results. They don’t require any special training at your end as the entire report is generated by specialized software or the web analytics team. There are also no issues regarding integration or technology risks. It is a simple and straightforward operation, and will keep you posted day after day about your site’s performance.

An important feature of these services is the load stress test. Most sites work normally when the traffic is low. However, once the traffic picks up the sites start slowing down. You therefore need an agency to evaluate your site’s speed when it has 50 visitors and the speed when it has 500 visitors. This will help you scale up your operations accordingly, and be ready for bigger goals.

These services are especially important for small businesses located on a shared server, and desperately trying to build traffic loyalty. They can use these reports to correct aberrations in their hosting strategies.

Dedicated hosting services are needed by large websites that generate high volumes of traffic. These websites often start by using a shared server but need to scale operations to meet the demand. There are also some companies which need huge storage space, and are not willing to share space with smaller companies.

In both these cases, dedicated hosting providers prove useful. They are medium-sized or large companies and in a position to provide dedicated resources. In contrast, the small web hosts do not have the financial or technical muscle to provide dedicated hosting.

A host that provides dedicated services needs to lease the whole server, rather than a portion of it. He can do this only if he has several servers in the first place. To do this, the web host needs to make large investments in hardware and software, and also maintain a technical team to meet client needs.

This is not all. The web host should be in a position to provide the hardware and the software that a client wants. This may mean extra investment. The hosting service will, of course, recover the investment by charging hefty fees but this return will only come in later. Initially the investment has to be made to attract clients.

The hosting service also has to plan for redundancy. This industry is one where developments are fast paced, and what may be latest technology today may become completely outdated by the end of the year. The web host therefore needs to upgrade technology regularly to be able to provide state-of-the-art equipment.

The web host should also be able to provide both managed and un-managed hosting. In the former case, the web host should have a technical team that should take care of all troubleshooting. The client is only responsible for content hosting. In the case of un-managed servers, the host provides the physical security, storage space and the bandwidth. The rest is a client’s problems.

All web hosts are not the same and one needs to check the level of customization and up-gradation being offered by different hosts. One also needs to check the safety and security of data. There should be no break ins and the site should be protected against mischievous attacks. This means that the web host must build proper firewalls to keep the hackers out.

Without useful and original content you will never reap any economical rewards online with your Wisconsin site. You need to position yourself as an expert in your market and the only way to do that is to create a useful site that your visitors will love.

But content creation is also the hardest part many people experience when creating a site that will rank high in the search engines. Therefore it’s always a good idea to build your first top ranking site about something that you are passionate about. This way writing content will come more easy and natural.

For anyone trying to learn how to write for the web, there are a few resources that I would like to recommend before you begin:

Make Your Content Pre-Sell

Everything Ken Evoy writes rock and this is no exception to that rule. This book is very easy to read and it has the beginner in mind. If you are new online, this is the place to begin.

Creating Fat Affiliate Sites

Andy Williams have a very good tutorial on how to write content for your site in his book “Creating Fat Affiliate Sites”. He describes the differences and purpose of main pages and article pages and he also gives you a few simple pointers to keep in mind when you write. When using these pointers, your content will almost write itself. This is how I do it and I love it!

In his newsletter achieves you will also find an example on how using prompts will help you in your writing. When you create prompts that are relevant to your topic you’ll soon discover that writing isn’t as hard as you thought.

Reference and Research

Firefox Browser

When I think back, it’s kind of hard to understand how we managed online in the pre-Firefox days. With this powerful browser, endorsed by Google, the information you need is always at your fingertips.

SearchIt!

The greatest search application in the world, created by SBI!. It has so many uses that it’s kind of hard just to mention a few. When you use it, you will feel its power.

Outsource Your Article Writing

Many webmasters outsource all or part of their article writing. For many this might not be as easy as it sounds, but the benefits and economical return can be great.

In case you are looking for someone to write the articles for you, the places to start are eLance or Rent a Coder. These two sites are highly respected and used by many Wisconsin search engine specialists.

As I see it, the greatest advantages with outsourcing your content writing is that it saves you time, you get professionally written articles and it boosts your productivity.

Duplicate Content Checkers

Many webmasters outsource their content creation and have ghost writers doing the articles. These writers are often very good, but not everyone and especially not all the time. Therefore it’s always a good idea to check the articles you receive for duplicate content.

One way to check your articles for duplicate content is too highlight a snippet of text from an article, put it in quotes and run a Google search on it. If it’s a unique article the SERP’s shouldn’t bring up anything.

Other good ways to check your site and to make sure other sites don’t use your content without your permission includes using the following free services:

• Copyscape
• Article Checker

Personally I use Andy William’s wonderful piece of software Content Publisher almost every day and it has a great feature built in. When receiving a batch of new articles from your writers you can simply import the articles into the software and then press a button to check them for duplicate content.

Great care must be exercised while choosing a domain name because this becomes your gateway to the net. A good domain name may attract a lot of traffic while an irrelevant domain name can end up getting ignored by potential customers.

The best domain names are those that are made of three to six characters. They are easy to remember, and easy to type. Long and complicated names run the danger of getting spelt wrongly. The customer instead of reaching your site may end up on another site.

The domain name should be related to your line of business. For instance, if you are dealing with electrical goods like bulbs or wires then the domain name should be built around wires or bulbs. There is no point in naming your site as water or air. It can only prove to be misleading.

There is no harm in using the name of your company as the domain name provided it is well known. This makes it easy for your customers to locate your website. But if you are starting a new company, then you should select a domain name that best describes your company.

Avoid hyphens in a domain name because they are hard to remember or pronounce. Also, you must keep in mind the fact that domain names without a hyphen enjoy a higher resale value as compared to those that have a hyphen.

Some people use numbers in domain names. This can be a good policy if it makes a domain name easy to remember. However, it should be avoided when it is used phonetically. For instance actors4you.com can only confuse people.

You should never register a domain name that infringes a trademark. This can lead to costly legal battles, which you may even lose.

Another thing that you should do is to register the domain name yourself. Don’t get your domain name registered through your web host, even if he offers this as a free service. There have been scores of cases where the hosting company has registered the domain in its own name.

This can create problems for you later, especially when you want to change your web host. Your host may refuse to transfer your domain name, or may demand a fee. You can, of course, report him to the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers but it will only lead to unnecessary tension and running around.

Points to keep in mind while changing web hosts

Changing web hosts becomes a necessity when your site becomes popular, and your current host is unable to meet your needs. You then need to find a host that can offer you a higher level of scalability and more services.

You should plan the movement carefully. The first step, of course, is finding a new host. The second is making the switch. However, before you make the switch you must take a back up of all your data. The back up should be saved in the original directories, so that you don’t have to do fresh database planning.

However, if your website is not properly structured then this is a good time to have a professional redesign the database. You will find that good database management brings in scalability.

For the first 48 hours, you should use a redirection page on your old host to ensure that you don’t loose traffic. After that, the new IP address will be listed on most domain name servers on the net, and your visitors will not face any hardship reaching your site.

Here are some more tips that can make the transition easier:

1. Find out in advance if your new hosting service uses a Windows or a UNIX operating system to ensure that it is compatible with your present hosting package.

2. Make sure that your new host provides sufficient storage space – and can add more GBs as and when needed.

3. Find out if your new host provides facilities such as auto responders, e-mail accounts and mail forwards. These are minor services but they make your site more professional.

4. Does your old host use FrontPage? If your new host uses FrontPage, is it the same version?

5. Be sure that your new host can release extra bandwidth as an when the traffic spurts on your site.

6. If case of shared hosting, make sure that your new host does not host adult sites. These sites corner large chunks of bandwidth. Your site, as a result, becomes slow.

7. You should also check the past experience of your new host. Avoid going to companies that have just set up new hosting companies.

Once your files have been uploaded on the new server, make sure that the new website functions properly. Most hosts provide a preview link, to enable you to see how your website looks, before the domain name is transferred.
